Project
For our project we were supposed to design a layout for a new STEM building on campus. During the project we learned about layers, orbits, and day lighting techniques. Using the information we were taught, we created an effective design for this STEM building. The design includes a main hallway with a multipurpose garden in the center and multiple classrooms to the sides of the hallway.
The Solar Part
One of the main focuses in this project is to not use electricity and create a purely solar design. The large skylight in the hallway provides light for the hallway and the garden directly below. The windows in the classrooms are put at the tops of the walls for more light and to protect from distraction from outside.
Content
Earth's Layers- Earth has four layers: the crust, the mantle, the outer core, and the core. Tectonic plates are in the crust and when they shift this creates earthquakes.
Universal Gravitation- F=G(m1*m2)/d^2
Orbit Velocities- The moon moves on a tangent that allows it to be falling towards earth while staying in constant orbit. The other planets also move tangent to the sun at a speed that is able to counteract the gravity pulling the closer to the sun.
Day lighting Techniques- A clear story window is a high section of wall that contains windows above eye level. The purpose is to admit light, fresh air, or both. A sky light is a large window installed in a roof to allow sunlight into a room. Light shelves reflect light onto the ceiling of a room. Solar tubes are smaller more focused version of skylights.

Reflection-
I thought that I did a good job as a group member. I tried to help my teammates when necessary and came up with some ideas. Personally, I think i could have been more assertive with some difficult behavior from a group member. Also, I think I could've spent more time on the logistics instead of the painting and building side of it.
